The invasion of gnomes & confusing the Chinese

I just subscribed to a website called alibaba.com.   They sell Vespas and associated parts.   I saw a Vespa ambulance on one of their alerts and sent a message,  along with a pic of my daughter as a gnome.

Seemed only natural.

My question:

“Dear sirs,  how many gnomes will this fit?

All the best,

John Lichtenberg”.

Okay,  so picture them in China looking at my request and the accompanied picture.  Within hours they responded:

“Dear Mr john lichtenberg ,

Thanks for your inquiry from ALIBABA.
A  40 hq container can load 26 units. i attached our different tricycle  to you,  please check.

Ella Wang
Sales Manager
China Auto International Co., Ltd”

I’ve decided that i’m going to do this again.   send irrelevant and confusing questions to foreign e-tailers — forcing heated local conversations and attempts to reply.

You want to be global?     fine.    welcome to the world of john and gnomes.  And for the record,  that thing could hold far more than 26 gnomes.
